Ok, I'm probably going to regret saying this, but I've wanted to say this openly for a long while.

Is it just me or does the official LOTR site really suck?

Now I don't normally bash websites, but because this site is meant to be promoting everyone's faviourte film, I thought I'd make an exception.

To cut through all the shit, it really should be a lot better / more that is on show at the moment. Whenever I go on there, I can't wait to get the chore over and done with of checking the Live Set Cam. And then leaving as quickly as possible before that bloody Java applet takes over my screen. And while we are on the subject, what exactly is it meant to be? I'm sure the SAS would be proud to have that on their web page :)

I'm not having a go at the technology on the site, as it is very intuative that they have the Live Set Cam (when it's updated) and the Q&A is something we all should be looking forward too.

But there's such a smell of cleanly corporatism about the whole page that I hate. It contains little information, I mean it really should be updated a lot more with developments, fan input etc. Which really doesnt seem to be happening.

I mean the old design of the page looked much better before they relaunched it with this neopolitan nightmare. Site's such as TOR and Ringbearer etc. Are covering and producing LOTR sites to a higher standard than the guys who are getting paid for it! Why dont you take a leaf out of their books?

Take one section of the TOR, it has more information on it than the entire Frickin LOTR website!

Why bitch about it? Well i see a problem in that people who want to find out about the film will go there first as It's the most heavily promoted website. When they get there, they'll find limited information, and will go away none the wiser. The official site, if it is being targeted as the source for the movie information, SHOULD contain all the things the visitor wants to know, and not just a host of nonsence animations! :)

I know it may still be early days yet, but I think I'm not alone in thinking that there should be a lot more to an official website than is on show at the moment.
