(Q) Where and when were you born?

(A) I was born in Wellington, early 60s

(Q) How did you meet Peter Jackson and the cast from Bad Taste?

(A) I met Micheal Minett around 1976, we were both apprntice photengravers. In the early eighties, we ended up working together again at the Evening Post, where Peter Jackson ws an apprentice, through Peter we met Pete O'Herne, Ken and Craig. PJ used to have video evenings at his house. Peter also ws the photographer at my wedding.

(Q) How did you get the song Rock Lies by Madlight on the movie?

(A) Madlight was the band I was in around the time we started the movies. We recorded it all in takes along with Mike Minetts band, we weren't to happy with the recording, but time was pressing.

(Q) The rest of the cast seem keen for a sequel, would you also be interested?

(A) Dont know about staring in it, but would certainly enjoy being part of it.

(Q) When filming first began, then you found out it would take 4 years, where you ready to make that comitment to Bad Taste?

(A) When we started filming it was every Sunday, the plot changed regulary, I think every situation was thrown at us, people leaving, then comming back, weather, availability or Gear Homestead etc, but Peter handled everything very well. His foresight and patience is remarkable, and didn't mind at all if we thought some of his lines were bad, we would just change them.

(Q) What have you been up to since its release?

(A) I have been married, I have 2 daughters Jessica and Madison, played in different bands over the years, travelled the world in 1997. Still playing a bit of sport. Currently living in Paekakariki with my girlfriend Janine.

(Q) Does Madlight still record songs?

(A) John, Chris and myself which is ¾ of Madlight are still mucking about, John Derwin the drummer has a recording studio, so every now and then we make some noise. Great fun.

(Q) What has been your biggest accomplishment in life, and what or who has been your role model?

(A) Yet to do (b) Don’t know about a role model, but Peter Jackson for focus and determination and Steve Morse for sheer brillance.

(Q) Were you in any particular danger while filming?

(A) No real danger, falling repeatedly out of a tree, and not using my hands to break the fall. I also played a few aliens that got shot so again, running on gravel etc getting shot and trying not to look like I had just fallen over.

(Q) Do you get recognised when you’re shopping or walking around the city?

(A) Occassionally, people say I look familiar but usually don’t let on, a few friends don’t know I’ve been in a movie.

(Q) Did everyone get along while filming Bad Taste? Or did some people start getting frustrated with the long hours filming?

(A) We got along very well, we’d try and make any situation humourous, which usually ended up taking the piss out of each other. Ken would have been the brunt of a few jokes, because his entire diet back then was brussel sprouts and beer that’s it, so you can imagine we’d draw straws if he needed a lift.

Thanks Hamish.

Thanks for the answers Terry, rock on!
