LOTR Goodies At Hot Topic - Xoanon @ 00:00 PST
From: Blynk

I went to the mall tonight (I live in Mass.) and found at the store Hot Topic (http://www.hottopic.com) a few LotR items for sale.

They had the Ringwraith t-shirt(the one at the online NLC store), only it was a girls "baby doll tee" for $19.99. Of course, I just had to buy that. They also had a men's t-shirt that is *not* on the NLC store; it's black and has an image of 3 or 4 of the Nazg{l with their swords drawn, at Weathertop, I believe, with some goldish-bronze sparkle outlining the image. Also around $19.99 I should think. Also, they had two boxed sets of action figures; one with Arwen, Frodo, and Asfaloth, and another of the Witch King (it was either him or another one of the Nazg{l, but I'm not exactly sure as it was really high up on the shelf) and his horse. (I didn't get to check the prices on the figures). I talked to the cashier and she told me she was surprised they had gotten the toys in so early, and that the rest would probably come out periodically as December came nearer. The Ringwraith baby doll tee is available at the online Hot Topic store, but the men's t-shirt and the 2 figure sets aren't on there yet. (On the site, they accidentally titled it "Lords of the Rings" lol) I suggest you keep checking back there, as well as at your local mall to see if Hot Topic ever gets any new things in. Just thought you might be interested!

New Books on the Horizon? - Xoanon @ 22:25 PST
From: PT

Bookstores in Australia are receiving the promotional pamphlet detailing what will be on sale and what can be ordered. The release dates were all in November and all listed themselves as US and UK, so I don't know about Aus. You could order all the new books, the film guide and particularly a large book that was "not yet named" that appeared to be the biggest and most interesting of the lot. there was a chart that mapped all Tolkien related books, posters and calendars that was obviously intended to dry up confusion about what was official to the films and what was not. You could also order some tall (unknown length, presume 6ft) posters that were thin. They were of Frodo, Saruman, The Witch King and so on. I was not allowed and did not get the chance to steal/take the book from the store that had it. They showed it to me because I keep asking about "when?". It was all cool!

Great Tolkien Music - Tehanu @ 13:31 PST
IVariations on this email arrive often enough, usually accompanied by a dodgy-sounding Mpeg which on my computer speakers doesn't sound like much. I almost never offer a review, as it would be unfair to pass judgement on 90 seconds of something I can't hear very clearly. Some of them seem to reply heavily on samplers and midi keyboards, which I enjoy about as much as a gourmet likes chewing-gum. That's my bias, take it or leave it.

Both 'Glass Hammer' and 'The Tolkien Ensemble' sent me their latest CDs as a thank-you to TORN for bringing them to the attention of the fans. I've been playing them as an antidote to the horrors of the past week (9.11.01), and it seemed worth sharing my impressions with you as a kind of thank-you to the musicians for taking my mind off things. Great Things at the New Line Shop! - Calisuri @ 14:43 PST
Lask week, New Line Shop began a week long celebration of Frodo and Bilbo's birthday. You only have a day left to take part in the celebration. With an order of $30 dollars or more, you can get a free, 2x3 inch, Lord of the Rings pin.

Along with this promotion, check some of the new products and sales going on at the shop. (SALE on the 48x72 poster and the International Sales Brochure) Of particular interest is this one:

[ Click to Visit the Lord of the Rings shop ]A JVC LOTR DVD Player. If you don't have a DVD player, now is the time to get one. While I'm not familiar with this model, if you are still watching things on VHS, you really need to get out of the stone ages. And after all, the official movie DVD's are slotted to have loads of features including deleted scenes, behind the scenes documentaries, games, etc. As an EXTRA bonus, this JVC DVD Player comes with a 17 minuted DVD, featuring behind the scenes footage about the making of The Lord of the Rings. Yeah...that is almost reason enough folks!

By the way, I'm not opposed to any fans who want to donate a brand new DVD player to the Calisuri cause. I could always use another DVD player! (Actually, I really just want that DVD!!!)[Official Lord of the Rings Shop]
