Weta/Sideshowtoy News - Xoanon @ 19:12 PST
Because of the recent tragedy in New York City and Washington DC, the United States Postal Service, UPS, FedEx and other world carriers have temporarily interrupted their shipments from the USA to domestic and international destinations. Sideshow will fulfill all domestic and international orders as quickly as possible. In the interim, orders to non-US destinations will take longer than usual to be delivered. Thank you for your patience during this trying time.

We at Sideshow Inc. are deeply saddened by the horrific events of the past week. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those touched by this tragedy both in the US and Worldwide. Sideshow is very much a global company, serving customers throughout every region of the world. We would like to express our appreciation to our customers around the world for their expressions of sympathy in the wake of this terrible event. Our friends, near and far, have been incredibly kind in contacting us to check on our well being. We are "okay," but this has touched all of us, and we will never be the same.

Sideshow, Inc., and it's sister organization, The Sideshow Foundation, will be making a contribution to aid those families in our immediate community that have lost loved ones. Many of the victims on those doomed flights were flying back home to Los Angeles, where Sideshow's office is located. Our hearts go out to them and their families.

Some of our friends at Weta Workshop knew people in the World Trade Center that are currently missing. Half a world away in New Zealand, their traditionally peaceful community has also been deeply affected by the events in New York.

We wish for everyone the peace and resolve to get through this situation and to remain committed to the overriding principal of love that truly binds us all as brothers and sisters.

Sincerely,
The Sideshow / Weta Team

Pillars of Agonath Poster Available - Calisuri @ 11:06 PST
Rejoice! The latest Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring movie poster is now available at the Official New Line Shop.

[ Click to Buy ]

This gorgeous poster shows the Fellowship of the Ring as they depart Lothlorien, making their way through the Pillars of Argonath, and about to pass by the statues of Isildur and Anarion. The poster is a full 27 x 41 inches in size, and comes in two versions displayed in theaters nationwide -- standard single sided ($15.95), and double sided ($24.95). The double sided version is used in movie theater lightboxes, and the back side is the same as the front, only reversed. These posters are available in limited quantities, so don`t delay!

You can also buy the both single sided posters for a pretty nice bargain too! And if you are wondering how to frame these things, most 'art' stores will have frames large enough to fit the 27 x 41. They are about $30 dollars. I know I could not find one locally, so I visited dickblick.com, an online art store, and made my own frame. Once again, the materials will cost you about $30. $30 sure beats the $120 I was quoted my my local framing company![BUY]

Toy Biz Toy News - Xoanon @ 08:47 PST
The Morian Miner chimes in with a short review on a few of the new Toy Biz toys:

Picked up the new Toy Biz Gimli at my local TRU last night (Tucson, AZ). Saw all the figures except Aragon and Ringwraiths. Very impressed with Gimli (but I may be jaded, since he, Aragon, and the wraiths were on my must-have list). Little disappointed in Gandalf and the hobbits. Look forward to the rest of this line. Keep your eyes open.

Toy Biz Toy News - Xoanon @ 17:47 PST
From: The Dormouse

I swung by Toys R Us in Bellevue, WA on the way to work today -- working just a block away -- and they had some of the figures in stock: Newborn Lurtz, Witch King Ringwraith, an Frodo. They were selling for $7.99 each and only had a couple of each. I picked up a Frodo & Ringwraith for myself and gave Lurtz a pass for the time being since he didn't look especially cool (but I might change my mind!) Frodo comes with an interactive scenic display stand that switches between reality and the "Shadow Realm". His cloak is removable and he comes with a short sword. The Witch King is very articulated in his arms & legs. He comes with a long sword and smaller spring-loaded "stabbing action" dagger.

Toy Biz News! - Xoanon @ 23:02 PST
Here are a few stories about the LOTR toys from Toy Biz, check them out!

From: Mr. Clark

I found the Lord of the Rings action figures at a Wal-Mart in DeKalb, IL. They all look GREAT. I bought a Legolas... its an exact match for the actor in the film. The figure is well articulated and comes with bow, 4 arrows (that shoot!), and 2 daggers. It also has a quiver on its back with room for arrows and the 2 daggers, plus a stabbing or throwing action on one of its arms. They cost around $7.00 with sales tax.

Mr. Limpet reported that the online webstore KBkids.com has a few goodies you can get:

The Lord of the Rings: 20" Electronic Light 'N Sound "Sting" Sword (Available 9/30/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Arwen Deluxe 12" Action Figure (Available 10/15/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Arwen with Asfaloth Stallion and Ringwraith with Horse Deluxe Sets (Available 09/30/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Boromir vs. Lurtz and Merry & Pippin vs. Moria Orc Deluxe 2-Pack Sets (Available 09/30/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Frodo Baggins Deluxe 9" Action Figure (Available 10/15/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Frodo, Samwise, Legolas, Lurtz and Witch King Ringwraith 5 Figure Set (Available 09/30/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Gandalf the Grey Deluxe 12" Action Figure (Available 10/15/01)

The Lord of the Rings: Gandalf, Saruman, Orc Overseer and Gimli 4 Figure Set (Available 09/30/01)

Ugluk, an Orc From JRR Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

Mr. Limpet adds: 'I have found Toy Biz's action figure line at Toys R Us today, I bought "Frodo" for myself. Someone also E-mailed me saying upper California's (I'm in southern) Toys R us have it too.'
