LOTR: A Fashion Inspiration?

9/30/01, 10:03 pm EST - Xoanon

From: Elias

Just wanted to let you know it seems like channel 4 in Sweden will have a report about LOTR fashion in the program Frivolt tomorrow (1/10) at 8.30 pm. First they viewed a few clips from the second trailer and then they showed some kind of fashion show and said the next program would be about "LOTR fashion". Clothes inspired by the movies perhaps? I have no idea actually, it sounded a bit strange to me too. Well, guess I'll find out tomorrow... :)

Words cannot describe the beauty of the Fellowship of the Ring Trailer II that was shown this Monday. If there were any doubts about Peter Jackson's adaption of the films, at least we know visually he has gotten it right. But what do you think? Did Monday's new trailer have you welling up inside? Media Watch: GQ Magazine

9/29/01, 11:54 am EST - Xoanon

From: Jason J

"Frodo Baggins can shred. While shooting the Lord of the Rings trilogy back-to-back-to-back, the men who play Tolkien's diminutive woodland creatures (from left, Dominic Monaghan, Sean Astin, Elijah Wood, and Billy Boyd) bought surfboards and took advantage of New Zealands' raddest natural resource. Studio Execs undoubtedly cringed while the stars of their $270 million project braved thundering waves and coral reefs; Viggo Mortenson suffered a black eye his first time out. But the actors swear their offscreen bonding made their onscreen chemistry work. "Surfing is when the Hobbits really became the Hobbits- its all about the camaraderie and bonding. It was massively keen." Wood says. "We called ourselves 'the Black Riders.' It kind of became official when we made up some t-shirts that said Lord of the Rings Surfing Club."

LotR Hits Burger King Packaging

9/27/01, 3:39 pm EST - Strider

From Old Toby:

"I apologize if this is old news to you, but today when I received my Burger King lunch, the paper bag had a LOTR reference at the bottom! In fancy script it read 'Frodo Lives', and under that was typed: www.lotr.bk.com. The rest of the bag just has normal Burger King logos, nothing special. I've been trying to go to that site, but can't connect (I don't think it exists yet). Sorry, but I didn't feel like dredging the bag out of the garbage and scanning it for you!"

Liz Smith: 'I don't know my Asfaloth from my Elbow'

9/26/01, 7:43 pm EST - Xoanon

In today's NY Post, Liz apologizes for her recent gaff;

SORRY I got my friend Sir Ian McKellen's upcoming movie wrong. It's not the Harry Potter film he recently made, but J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring," which boasts Ian's masterful touch as the wizard. For the first time in production history three films were shot simultaneously. McKellen currently stars with Helen Mirren in "Dance of Death," opening Oct. 11 at the Broadhurst Theatre.
