Lady Elira writes: Cate Blanchett was on V. Graham Norton last night and they talked aboout whether rumours that Cate took the job of Galadriel because of wearing the pointy elf ears was true. Cate said it was partly true. Then they did a funny sketch where the audience members had to show how their behaviour would change if they got the One Ring. And then with their other guests, Busted, they all dressed up as Hobbits and Gandalf at the end. It was really funny!

This award show celebrates the year’s best video games and presents awards in a wide variety of categories. AOL CEO Dick Parsons is quoted as saying: "I would remind you all that New Line will be releasing the third installment of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. I saw some footage from this movie, and now I'm talking to you all as friends. Don't miss this movie! This is going to blow your socks off of! It's just going to be a fabulous, fabulous film. Based on what I've seen, it will be better than -- than the two previous rings, and I think it will be a huge movie around the world."

"Mythcon might not be as much in the pop-culture as comic-con, but it is and has been one of the best scholarly conferences dedicated to the fantasy world and works of Tolkien and Lewis," he says. TORN staffers Quickbeam and Tehanu, who attended in 2000, would be quick to agree with that.

Sven writes: I've just been watching an interview programme in Oz called "Enough Rope" with Andrew Denton. This evening one of his guests was Annie Lennox of "Eurythmics" fame. It was an engaging interview but of particular interest was her mention of spending the "last couple of days in studio" recording music that she's been invited to work on for "the next Lord Of The Rings film..". Looks like we'll be hearing her beautiful voice in ROTK. Can't wait!
