There's a flurry of activity in the academic shires in response to the 50th anniversary of the Lord of the Rings. 'Dead Ringers' For Rings

6/01/04, 8:18 pm EST - Xoanon

Greenwood Hobbit writes: Popular BBC2 programme 'Dead Ringers' has committed what to some would seem the ultimate insult - a spoof of ROTK's Grey Havens sequence. But I have to say, I did chuckle rather a lot! The four hobbits and Gandalf looked very convincing, and the cast and crew put a lot of trouble into poking affectionate fun at the multiple endings. The show is repeated on the evening of Saturday 5th June and is well worth watching out for if you're in the UK.

Update: Boston Museum LOTR Exhibit Directions

5/31/04, 11:30 pm EST - weetanya

At the end of the night, a New Line Rep keeping a low profile at the event came up to us and told us how happy he was with our dedication. [....] We also talked about the EE DVD, and he told us to expect a January release, or late December, but that was unlikely. He added that they were looking at first releasing the EE in theatres, and that a 'super-trilogy' Tuesday was under consideration, but not a definite, while mentioning that last year's EE releases were very lucrative for the studio."
