New Wellington Set?
11/13/00, 9:09 am EST - Xoanon
Ringer Spy
Rufus Redbeard sends along news of a new set from Wellington.
Just to let you know that I spotted two of the infamous JAMB signs on the way home from work today. They point the way into the main entrance of the Port of Wellington (that is, on to the commercial wharves). From the road (Aotea Quay) one can see that the windows of one of the wharf sheds, (warehouses), have been blacked out with black polythene.
What does it mean? I presume an interior set of some kind. It was a beautiful day today so it must have been pretty hot in there :)
No LOTR vehicles or props seen though.

Post pipped at party gate
11/13/00, 12:01 am EST - Xoanon
Well, having not been invited to the Minas Tirith press conference either, even considering the fact that TheOneRing.net reaches more people in a day than all those newspapers combined, we can feel for our friends at 'The Evening Post'.
It was an Orc-ward situation.
The Lord Of The Rings crew was having a party and we weren't invited. [More]

LOTR Trailer on '13 Days'? Perhaps!
11/12/00, 11:42 pm EST - Xoanon
Xoanon here with some interesting news from some intrepid spies out in California. It seems that the folks at New Line are aiming to get the LOTR Trailer tagged in front of the Kevin Costner drama '13 Days'.
Very reliable sources on the inside say that the plans are underway to get the new trailer out by the December 20th deadline, which means the trailer will have to be cut and polished way before then, so it's all a matter of timing.
More details on the teaser follow, highlight to read:
The teaser trailer will last 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. There will be plenty of graphics and new images. Apparently the trailer will I.D. some of the major characters for the non-Tolkienites among us. There will be a great long shot of all 9 walkers on the way towards Cathadras. No word on music or dialogue being used.
All this is of course not 100% reliable, my contact stresses, however, it's about 95.5% close.
Another set near Wellington, and lots of action at Wingate.
11/12/00, 11:15 pm EST - Tehanu
Seems like you can stumble across those 'Jamb' signs anywhere! Robbit the Hobbit found a new set and also reported that the Wingate set was busy.

Talk about fast! Ringer fan Toni H. quickly downloaded the Sunday Star Times cast/crew image and attempted to place names with faces. From what he has come up with, it looks pretty accurate. Tolkien reads Tolkien.
11/11/00, 6:49 am EST - Tehanu
From time to time people find and mention to us places on the Net where you can hear recordings of Tolkien's work. Now Salon.com has a bit of one that's a personal favourite of mine: Tolkien reading his own work. Robert B has kindly forwarded a Net source for this:
"There is a "Top 20 Spoken Word Recordings" on Salon.com. Tolkien reading from LOTR is #14. There is also a link through that link of him reading an Elven poem in Elvish."
Jolly Unlikely.

Little LOTR before Little Nicky?
11/10/00, 11:29 am EST - Xoanon
Doesn't look like it, at the time of writing this 11:20 am EST. I've yet to hear any news regarding a special LOTR trailer before the New Line film opening today, 'Little Nicky'. It was rumored a while back that the Adam Sandler comedy would have the trailer tagged to it. Perhaps we can cross it off the list? Time will tell.

From:
Joel B Just a quick note to let you know the new David Wenham (Faramir) film "Better Than Sex" is released today in Australia. From what I've read and heard, it's supposedly a pretty good film.
Plus, there was an interview with David in the TV section of today's Daily Telegraph in Sydney - his involvement in LOTR was mentioned, but the journo called it "The Hobbit."

LOTR TEASER POSTERS!!! NOT! -UPDATE-
11/08/00, 9:00 am EST - Xoanon
Coming Attractions has nailed it! 3 teaser posters for the Lord of the Rings films!
UPDATEWhen we get confirmation, we GET it! New Line Cinema placed a call to TheOneRing.net offices to inform us that these three pics are NOT teaser posters at all. They are in fact early test compositions for some concept art for promotion, these are 3 that did not make the grade and will not be used. No posters were ever made from these pieces of work, they're one of many designs New Line looked at for the films. Yet, if you still want to see them, click the following. [More]
