IMDB Correction: TTT Is Finished

Okay, IMDB has corrected its earlier story. It writes that, according to a New Line Cinema publicist, reports that TTT was incomplete are erroneous. According to New Line, the movie will make its December 18th release on schedule, with no delays of any kind. [More]

Unreleased 'Rings Tops Norway Sales

'The second in the Lord of the Rings trilogy has topped box office sales in Norway, six weeks before its release. Tickets for The Two Towers are outselling tickets for all other films currently showing in the country. More than 35,000 tickets were bought during the first day of sales.' [More]

Not to promote pointless comparisons, but one TORNado noticed the interesting fact that SW2 and FOTR:SE go head-to-head in stores on the same exact day, and so far the super-hyped high-profile SW2 first release is being outsold (at least according to Amazon.com's numbers) by the less-hyped follow-up release for FOTR. Swedish News: TTT Running time 2hrs 59mins?

Niklas writes: "Just recieved an e-mail from SF (The swedish filminstitute) who is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, cinema-chain here in Sweden. They were sending out mails that tickets will be available to buy starting November 18th. But most important, they clearly stated that the running time is 179 min." [Maybe that's including credits? So many other sources have stated that the movie runs for 2hr. 43 minutes. But on the other hand...16 minutes of credits? Who knows? - T. ]

Gollum the Rock-climber

Seems to be a day for Andy Serkis news. As well as finding cats an inspiration for voicing Gollum, he confessed to doing a lot of rock-climbing and spending time alone in the wilderness to get inside Gollum's character, according to this ABC News article. [More] Thanks to Curi for the link.

In the UK, Harper Collins is re-issuing the songbook by JRR Tolkien and the musician Donald Swann. According to the synopsis, "Professor Tolkien ... added a tune of his own, decorated the book in his own hand and added a glossary of Elvish terms and lore that appears nowhere else. " [More]

For sword smith Peter Lyon, work on The Lord of the Rings movies came naturally, almost as if his life was preparing him for this role. At 38, he makes his living selling handcrafted weapons, mostly to people who participate in historical re-enactments. In his free time, he teaches combat techniques to fellow members of the Wellington Medieval Guild and practices jousting with the Order of the Boar, both in his native New Zealand. [More]
