Tickets to the LOTR Marathon are still available in some locations neighboring major markets: Bakersfield CA, Williamsville NY (near Buffalo, also good for all you Toronto fans), Mobile AL, several towns in Lousiana, and other locales. For those of you willing to sit 9 hours in a theater, maybe a 3+ hour drive TO the theater is not out of the question. P.S. For most of the 100 locations, tickets DO remain for the EE individual showings. Check with your theater.

Finally, the first official trailer for The Return of the King arrived on September 27th. Most ringers seem to agree that it is simply the best trailer even shown in a theater, and it's quite hard to disagree with them. A real mess seems to be developing at the Uptown Theater in Washington D.C. A computer glitch and error by Fandango appears to have caused each movie in Trilogy Tuesday to be sold separately. Some folks bought tickets to film one, FOTR, assuming it would gain them entrance to the whole marathon. Some bought tickets to all three, just to be safe. People also bought tickets to ROTK or TTT, thinking there was a typo, but not to FOTR, because that had sold out! Confused? I know I am... Hear what our Ringer Spies in D.C. have to say [More]

We don't honestly know how we feel about this, but here you have it: 'Trilogy Tuesday' tickets can be found on eBay. Well, we're actually of mixed opinion about it. We understand that this might allow a few more of you to get your hands on tickets than have been able to... but on the other hand, maybe if people had only bought the amount of tickets they could personally use, there would have been more at the box office. Perhaps this could be a sign that MORE SCREENS should be added, don't ya' think?

The new issue of Inside Photoshop (October 2003) includes an article based on the FOTR movie poster: "Text Effects: Combine Filters and Styles to Make Movie Poster Titles." The Filmfestival of Ghent, Belgium has just announced that they will host a live concert: Lord of the Rings, symphony in Six movements to be orchestrated by Howard Shore himself! The event will take place on April 16th 2004 and more information can be found at Dutch language community site TheFellowship.nl or at FilmFestival.be!

The established Games Workshop sculpturers Alan and Michael Perry, who were invited by Peter Jackson to show him how to design miniatures, will appear at Ring*Con 2003. They sculpted many miniatures for the Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings project. Look for more info on this already interesting event on www.RingCon.de!

Soso writes: On Tuesday (Oct 7th) at 1.00pm local time the first "liner" placed herself in front of the theatre in Oslo to make sure she will get the best tickets for RotK in Norway. Tonight at about 23.00 pm local time there were already 8 people in line... It is kind of cold (about 4C) but that won't keep the liners away. Unfortunately last years successful "Hobbitcamp" in a park nearby the theatre will not take place this year, but nevertheless, events are planned and it seems as if this line will not be a boring one either.

Having just got off the phone with representatives from Alliance Atlantis Vivafilm (Canadian distributors of the LOTR films), they are working feverishly to dot all the "i's" and cross the "t's" to get everything together for us. The actor, best known as Eomer in "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," is in negotiations to play Matt Damon's nemesis in Universal Pictures' "The Bourne Supremacy," sources have confirmed. Pavel sends along some stunning images of Cate Blanchett (Galadriel) in full makeup and costume as the young Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's latest film 'The Aviator'. These images were sent to us in October of 2003, the film is being shot in Montreal and Los Angeles. The film also stars Ian Holm (Bilbo) as a meteorologist Professor Fitz, a fictitious character. Ringer staffer Thorongil had a chance to take a look at 'The Maps of Tolkien's Middle-Earth,' a beautifullly packaged collection of large, full-color maps from author Brian Sibley and artist John Howe.
