Hall Of Fire Chats This Weekend

10/11/03, 7:52 am EST - Frode

Finally, the first official trailer for The Return of the King arrived on September 27th. Most ringers seem to agree that it is simply the best trailer even shown in a theater, and it's quite hard to disagree with them. Let's make the wait for this Christmas a bit more bearable by having a closer look at the trailer in #thehalloffire this weekend.[More]

Las Vegas, Baby!

10/10/03, 7:06 pm EST - maegwen

Gil_Aglar writes: I am not sure who to send this to, or if I should even bother, but I know that I was willing to fly to New York if need be for this, so for any other rabid fans out there: Henderson Green Valley Ranch Station still has tickets at this moment. For anyone in Northern Arizona, Southern Utah or Southern Nevada, this makes it a possiblity for you to still do Trilogy Tuesday. The National Finals Rodeo is over December 14th, which means that you should be able to get hotel rooms in Las Vegas for around $40 during midweek. A Tale of Major Woe in D.C.

10/10/03, 6:53 pm EST - maegwen

A real mess seems to be developing at the Uptown Theater in Washington D.C. A computer glitch and error by Fandango appears to have caused each movie in Trilogy Tuesday to be sold separately. Some folks bought tickets to film one, FOTR, assuming it would gain them entrance to the whole marathon. Some bought tickets to all three, just to be safe. People also bought tickets to ROTK or TTT, thinking there was a typo, but not to FOTR, because that had sold out! Confused? I know I am... Hear what our Ringer Spies in D.C. have to say [More]

Problems in Plano?

10/10/03, 6:19 pm EST - maegwen

William writes: I can attest to the fact that most, if not almost all, of the tickets to the Plano, Texas (a suburb of Dallas) Trilogy Tuesday were purchased by scalpers online. People from across the country purchased 10 tickets apiece even though they may live a thousand miles away for the sheer purpose of selling them on E-bay for profit. [More]

UPDATE: The manager of the Plano Cinemark responds to fans' concerns. [More]

Return of the Ringers REVIVED!

10/10/03, 3:41 pm EST - Tehanu

When we sold out of tickets for our Premiere Party in less than 48 hours, the battle was on! We had to find a way to fit more people in without losing our fantastic hilltop vantagepoint at the Skyline Restaurant. . After frantic phonecalls and some mighty wrestling with budgets, we prevailed. Our gracious hosts at The Skyline have organised a superb summer pavilion which will be set up to accommodate more guests. The Inevitable eBay Tickets

10/10/03, 1:06 pm EST - maegwen

We don't honestly know how we feel about this, but here you have it: 'Trilogy Tuesday' tickets can be found on eBay. Well, we're actually of mixed opinion about it. We understand that this might allow a few more of you to get your hands on tickets than have been able to... but on the other hand, maybe if people had only bought the amount of tickets they could personally use, there would have been more at the box office. Perhaps this could be a sign that MORE SCREENS should be added, don't ya' think?

BTW: If you live in Maryland, you're still in luck -- Tickets don't go on sale until TOMORROW. (And some other theaters reportedly still have tickets as well) Visit our Trilogy Tuesday page for details.

The author, Jim Whitcomb, analyzes the text in the movie poster title and discusses the Photoshop layer styles and filters needed to make similar gold chiseled text. Thanks to Kimber for the pics! Special Super-Suit Screening of ROTK?

10/10/03, 10:15 am EST - Xoanon

The Balrog writes: My friend *snip* is the Managing Director of an AMC theatre in *snip*. He told me that they were getting a ROTK screening on Nov 6th at 10:00am or so for 1 person only, a big exec from AOL/Time Warner. He doesn't know who, but our guess is Ted Turner. I was curious if you had heard of any such thing. I had heard I think that they were still filming, and getting a print together on 11/6 seems unlikely, but I did go to a screening of Gladiator almost 6 months before it came out, so who knows.

Soso writes: On Tuesday (Oct 7th) at 1.00pm local time the first "liner" placed herself in front of the theatre in Oslo to make sure she will get the best tickets for RotK in Norway. Tonight at about 23.00 pm local time there were already 8 people in line... It is kind of cold (about 4C) but that won't keep the liners away. Unfortunately last years successful "Hobbitcamp" in a park nearby the theatre will not take place this year, but nevertheless, events are planned and it seems as if this line will not be a boring one either.
