As part of their programme they're playing some of Howard Shore's FoTR score. Anyone living around Auckland might be interested - it starts at 6.30pm and goes until 10.30pm.

The eldest son of The Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien has died at the age of 85. Father John Tolkien, heir to the multi-million family estate, died after a 50-year career with the Catholic church in the Midlands.

Apparently the makeup work for "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," "Men in Black 2," or "The Hours" weren't enough to impress the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2002. There's a picture doing the rounds of the Net with George Bush's hand shown in closeup, wearing the One Ring. It's been used as a poster image at peace marches in the US and elsewhere, and of course Ringers forward us 5 or 6 copies of it daily, which clogs our mail a bit. We posted that image more than a year ago and it triggered an orgy of insults and namecalling between Ringers who are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Not a pretty sight nor one I want to see repeated - most people come here to relax, after all. So please, STOP SENDING US THE "FRODO FAILED" picture. Thanks!

More than 61 620 viewers went to see TTT in the first weekend, in the first weekend Titanic had around 53 741 viewers. The number of viewers is increasing and its impossible to get any tickets even 5 days in advance.
